Richard A. Beaudin

My teaching career began in 1977, five years after I began working with the tools. I earned my associate’s degree from Washtenaw Community College. Some notable projects I worked at Natkin Service Co. as a Service Technician, and later, as a Service Manager. I also worked at York International as a Service Manager and Service Sales. Once Johnson Controls bought out York, I was the Chiller Team Manager. I also worked for the SWPTA for six years as an Organizer.

David W. Carter

I am the welding instructor. I began my career in 1984 and started teaching in 2011. One of my most memorable projects was working at a powerhouse in Kansas City when the 9/11 attacks occurred. My work partner had just returned to the top of the structure from the ground and told me about the attacks. I remember looking in the sky to see a jet made a perfect u-turn to go back to the airport.

My name is James, but I go by “Bubba.” I started in the trades in 1972 and began teaching eight years later. I worked at Baylor Hospital, Plano East High School, Chaparral Steel Mill, Texas Instruments, Bell Telephone (ATT), Fountain Place and Brandt Fab Shop.

Othon Guillen, V

I started in the trades in 2003 and started teaching in 2008. Some notable jobs I worked on include the Texas Children’s Hospital-Women’s Pavilion & NRI, Methodist Hospital-TMC, Memorial Herman-Katy Hospital, MD Anderson-Zayed, Houston Dynamo Stadium (BBVA Compass) and U of H Cougar Stadium (TDECU). I was born in Corpus Christi and began my career in the trades with Local 68 in Houston. I am a third generation plumber.

Dennis L. Minnich

I began my career in 1981 and have worked on many projects including new high-rise buildings, schools, hospitals, churches, manufacturing facilities and military installations, to name a few. The piping trades even took me overseas in the south Pacific Islands for four years. I started to teach in 2005 as a way to give back to this industry, which has given me so much. I graduated from the United Association Instructor Training Program in 2013 and earned an associate’s degree in Industrial Training. I am proud to be a UA tradesman and UA Instructor.

Joe Spry

I have 35 years of HVAC industry experience, with 20 of those years in building automation systems as a Trane Building Automation Specialist. The last 10 years of my career were spent in automation, commissioning all major control systems such as JCI, Trane, Siemens, Tridium Niagara and many more. I am LEED AP, NEBB CxCT, Niagara AX and N4 certified.

Alyssa Tamayo

I graduated from the United Association Veterans in Piping (VIP) Program at Fort Campbell and transitioned out of the military in 2016. Afterwards, I entered the Local 100 apprenticeship program. Over the last few years, I worked on multiple large projects such as TH Denton, UTA SIER, and Cook’s Children’s Hospital of Prospe. My current role at Brandt is Virtual Design in Construction (VDC) Field Technician to set up control on new and existing projects with a GPS or Robotic Total Station (RTS). Another part of my job is teaching apprentices and journeymen how to operate these systems to complete field layout. The remote portion of my role is to help prepare point files for the field teams after the VDC Modelers finish coordination.
